A Typical Women Build Day

A typical Women Build day starts at 9 am and ends at 3 pm. A safety talk begins each day when all volunteers are present. Volunteers will work in groups on particular assignments and are expected to remain at the job site the entire day.

Volunteers are given Habitat t-shirts, safety goggles, work gloves, and a tool belt. We ask that you wear sturdy shoes/boots and work clothes. You will likely get dirty so please no white sneakers!

Lunch will be provided.

What is Women Build?

Women Build is a unique opportunity for women to work together to volunteer, build, and advocate for decent and affordable homes.  Join us and help raise funds for our housing programs.

Spring 2023 Women Build

Spring Women Build is a three-day fundraising build event held in May each year. Women Build allows women to take a proactive step in serving their communities, working under the guidance of construction professionals to improve the community we share.

This past Spring our Women Build teams completed two Veterans Build projects which were the first to be completed after we launched our Veterans Build/L.I.F.T. home repairs program in April . Valley Bank was the lead sponsor on opening day and their team of volunteers worked alongside individual women builders on a project in Long Branch. The teams replaced a window, stripped and painted the front porch, pillars, and handrails, and cleaned up the yard, giving the home a much-needed facelift. Our project in Lincroft was sponsored by long-time partner, T&M Associates, as well as new supporter, DeFelice Realty Group. The teams worked together to dismantle and remove an old shed and fence, repair brickwork and garden beds, build cabinet doors, and power wash the veteran-owned house. Anchor (Oldcastle) is also a lead sponsor of Women Build and will be completing their build day in October.
