Volunteers must be 16 years old to work on a construction site and at the ReStore.
There are many opportunities to volunteer, such as construction projects, administrative work, or join a committee! For more information, email us at volunteer@habitatmonmouth.org.
Tools that would be useful to bring with you. Please bring a hammer and work gloves. A limited number of tools are available on site if you can’t bring your own.
Please arrive on time. This is when work is explained and assigned and work teams arranged. Sign in every time you’re at the work site to help us keep track of workers and for insurance purposes.
Appropriate clothing – Work boots or heavy shoes are suggested! Sandals and bare feet are not allowed. Oversized, loose or hanging clothing or jewelry may become caught or tangled resulting in injury. Depending on the season, don’t forget sun protection hat or lotion.
Restroom facilities are provided at the site. Bottled water is provided. It is suggested that volunteers bring preferred beverage and lunch.
To maintain a safe working environment The consumption of alcohol on site is strictly prohibited. Children under the age of 16 are not allowed at the site — period — it’s for their safety. There are no baby sitting/child care facilities, so please make other arrangements. Teenagers 16-17 cannot use power tools, but may be helpful in many other ways. All volunteers must follow posted safety rules and procedures.
Volunteers are covered under group accident coverage, provided that the injury occurs while involved with activities that are sponsored and approved by the Board of Directors. This policy is in the form of excess coverage. It becomes effective only after the volunteer’s own insurance has maxed out or in the event that the volunteer is not covered under other policies.
Construction build days are Tuesdays through Fridays, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
ReStore volunteers can work various shifts Wednesdays through Saturdays 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
For outdoor work, we will still work if there is a light drizzle or mild weather. HOWEVER, the build day will be canceled for severe weather. We will try to notify you if this happens as soon as possible. Please use your best judgement.
