Veterans Build

Our Veterans Build programs serve eligible veterans in Monmouth County.
This program is a collaboration with Coastal Habitat’s L.I.F.T. (Local Initiative for Troops) Veteran Housing Repairs Program. Driven by volunteer power, donations, and fundraising events, the program completes veteran home repair and home upkeep projects at no cost to the veteran. Working together with Coastal Habitat, we are able to support more veterans in Monmouth County.

Since the launch of the Veterans Build/L.I.F.T. home repairs program in April 2023, we have completed a number of home repairs projects, including the installation of two new roofs, the construction of a new wheelchair ramp, a new fence, installation of a new window, replacement of damaged sheetrock, and repainting sections of a home’s exterior. Our volunteers have also dismantled and removed an old shed, repaired brickwork, constructed and installed new cabinet doors, and provided general yard and landscape clean-up.

We are thankful to the two local businesses, SRS Distribution (Perth Amboy) and USA Building Maintenance, whose generous support of our Veterans Build program made the two roofing projects possible.

Thank you to the supporters of our 2023 Hitting Close to Home for Veterans Pickleball Tournament – the funds raised at this event kick-started the program. Our upcoming 2024 Pickleball Tournament will continue raising funds for this vital program – we have more projects planned for 2024 so check back for updates! Please visit the Hitting Close to Home for Veterans Pickleball Tournament to get involved.

Types of Projects

Even minor projects can be overwhelming and costly to a veteran homeowner with a low or fixed income. Our Veterans Build program can relieve concerns, and remedy safety and comfort issues.

Projects include critical home repairs such as ramp installation, railing repairs, widening walkways for wheelchairs, as well as general repairs and assistance with landscape upkeep.
