Habitat for Humanity Monmouth joins forces with Coastal Habitat on L.I.F.T. Veterans Build Home Repair Program

March 2023 – Freehold/Asbury Park, New Jersey – Coastal Habitat for Humanity is excited to announce the expansion of the L.I.F.T. (local initiative for troops) veteran housing repair program, in partnership with Habitat for Humanity of Monmouth County. The L.I.F.T. program currently assists qualified veterans and veteran households in southern coastal Monmouth County. The expansion of this program in collaboration with Habitat for Humanity of Monmouth County will further impact and support veterans served throughout all of Monmouth County. Since L.I.F.T. was launched through a donation from the Sea Girt 5k the program has accomplished home repairs such as ramp installation, railing repairs, widening walkways for wheelchairs, as well as general repairs and assistance with landscape upkeep for more than 20 veteran households. When even minor projects can be overwhelming and costly to a homeowner with low or fixed income, L.I.F.T. can both relieve concerns and remedy safety and comfort issues for veterans. The partnership between Coastal Habitat for Humanity and Habitat for Humanity of Monmouth County will raise awareness, visibility, and funds as the affiliates join forces to serve those who served.

“L.I.F.T. allows Coastal Habitat, and now through our partnership Habitat for Humanity of Monmouth County, to honor the service of local veterans by providing home repairs, renovations and upkeep to qualified partner families at no cost,” said Heather Schulze, Executive Director, Coastal Habitat for Humanity. “We could not be more excited to take this project countywide through our collaboration with Habitat Monmouth and the overwhelming support of generous donors and dedicated volunteers.”

“We are thrilled to be collaborating with Coastal Habitat on this program, which will allow us to serve all of Monmouth County. Our organizations are founded on the conviction that everyone should have a decent, durable place to live in dignity and safety, and we are especially pleased to be able to focus on the housing needs of the growing number of veterans in our community,” said Diane Kinnane, Executive Director, Habitat for Humanity of Monmouth County.
