Criteria & Applying
Habitat for Humanity in Monmouth County (HFHMC) builds homes in partnership with qualifying partner families and the community, and then sells the homes at no profit with zero percent interest mortgages to partnering families. HFHMC also prepares partner families to be successful homeowners.
In order to qualify for a Monmouth County Habitat home, you must be a first-time home buyer and live in our service area, see Becoming a Homeowner for more information.
Low and moderate income families in need of safe, affordable housing can apply to HFHMC by calling (732) 728-0441 x 311. Candidate families should live in Northern or Western Monmouth County. Families are chosen for future homes based on:
1 - Need for housing,
2 - Ability to make payments on an affordable zero interest mortgage, and
3 - Willingness to be active partners with Habitat in building their homes.
Partner families should have a good credit report with a minimum credit score of 620, and a total family income between $35,000 and $65,000 per year depending on family size.
We subscribe to no religious, ethnic or racial requirements, priorities or preferences. Habitat for Humanity in Monmouth County approves families in accordance with all state & federal fair lending laws.
